The refractory period is a period after orgasm when a man doesn’t feel a sexual desire to want to have sex again.
When a man ejaculates and orgasm, he goes into a refractory period where, among other things, his penis temporarily goes limp and he cannot get an erection for a while and sexual feelings and desire subsides.
How long the refractory period lasts
This phase can go on for 30 minutes to several hours before a man will be able to feel the desire to want to have sex again or achieve an erection again when he’s stimulated.
Younger men usually have a shorter refractory period…
…often less than 30 minutes.
With older men, it can last for more than an hour.
Younger men can have sex again immediately after they ejaculate or orgasm.

When it comes to sex and a refractory period…
…women are built differently than men.
Women do not experience a refractory period after orgasm.
Unlike men who go into a refractory period immediately after orgasm and cannot get an erection for a while and sexual stimulation seems unpleasurable, with women, it takes longer for their genitals to return to their normal state after an orgasm – at least five to ten minutes. And with continuous sexual stimulation, they’re ready to have another orgasm within a few minutes after their first orgasm.

An advantage to the refractory period
A man will last a lot longer when he decides to go for a second round of sex immediately after orgasm or immediately after the refractory period.
The release of semen makes the penis numb to sexual stimulation and ensures that a man doesn’t climax anytime soon during the second round of sex.
It will take a man longer to ejaculate and orgasm again a second time making him last much longer the second time.
This is good news for men or guys who are sensitive to coming too fast during sex and are looking to last longer… they can use the refractory period to their advantage – go for a second round of sex immediately after ejaculating.

And there you have it…
…the refractory period.
I hope this article has given you an insight into the male refractory period and how women or girls don’t have one and can experience orgasm after orgasm till they cannot take it anymore.
